Soapmaking can be very rewarding of you have all the right
equipment and information. Lye will destroy many surface,
so make sure you are prepared to protect countertops and
yourself. The following is a list will help you know what
equipment is needed for soapmaking.
two bowls that are stainless steel, plastic, glass or
have an enamel surface
spoons, also made of either stainless steel, plastic or
with an enamel surface
newspaper to protect surfaces from lye, which will destroy
metals, countertops, etc.
scale to measure ingredients
2 thermometers
heat source to warm oils
rubber or disposable gloves and eye protection
vinegar to neutralize the lye if you get it on you skin
stick/immersion blender (if you want to speed the process)
